  Example: Developing treatment processes to remove hydrocarbons, suspended solids, salts, or other contaminants so produced water can be reused, reinjected, or meet discharge requirements.
• Developing or improving carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies
  Example: Testing alternative process conditions, solvents, or equipment configurations to improve CO₂ capture efficiency, purity, compression, or handling performance.
